The glazes vary on each sled and mimic earth in deep greens and browns, sea in rich azure blues, and sky with colors ranging from the palest of blues to the deepest navy.

Mermaid’s Purse was founded in 2003 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The name is derived from a nautical term where a shark egg becomes attached to seaweed or kelp and washes ashore after hatching. All of the pottery is either hand built or wheel thrown, and uses lead-free glazes.
